Stars in Stripes is an ongoing collection of digital photographs exploring the inseperability of LGBTQ+ identities from one's self. Each piece is constructed of multiple images of the same figure in various circumstances highlighting the ever-present awareness of their queer identity as a part of their overall constitution. The collection examines the pasage of time and place by combining these images into one identifiable portrait. Each image is constucted of a number of bands which are colored with a specific pride flag that the subject identifies with. My goal with this series is to highlight queer identities in a time of increasing regression for LGBTQ+ rights and freedoms worldwide, including in the United States. Printed in the same dimensions of the flags themselves, these images explore a small section of the idea that the same affinities we represent with flags can often constitute inseperable aspects of our identity which color our daily lives.Â
Each piece is comprised of digital photographs edited with the Affinity Suite and titled for their respective "Stars".
