Conversations with Myself is a collection of long-exposure film photography reflecting on my childhood and its impact on my sense of identity. Through unsettled expressions, lurking monsters, and multiple appearances of myself, these photographs expose the time I spent alone in the summers of my youth. These summers of isolation greatly impacted my view of the world and my relationship with myself, one often carried out through verbal or mental conversations and imagined scenarios. The collection utilizes long-exposure techniques to highlight my feelings of detachment and the endless vacuum of time in my environment. Their development on film emphasizes the lack of perfection possible within my own mind, my own aspirations in relation to one another represent my creation of fantasy worlds within my own mind, and the lurking monsters and reflective images represent the battlefield within my own mind wherein I ceased to feel real.
