This project is an exploration of the stereotypes that permeate the male gay community and a satirical critique of the beliefs that drive many of them. A hand-illustrated comic, this project combines my passions for illustrative art, layout design, and storytelling in a manner that allows me to represent a part of my community. Throughout this project, I aimed to craft a compelling satirical exploration of what it would be like for someone gay to go to Hell, as we are so often told we will. Following the protagonist Milo Grays, we see that reality play out and ultimately find happiness regardless. The project as a whole radiates the sentiment I have always held, if people who can be so cruel and absolute go to their Heaven, then I'd be happier in Hell.
In working on this comic I practiced skills in layout, font creation, illustration and visual storytelling, AND time-management. This project was created in a ten week course during which I was also participating in three other classes and a part-time job. Personally, I felt extremely accomplished with the result and the knowledge I gained artistically, as well as in the preparation of a print-ready product.
